Hartcoat Sideshow

Hartcoat Sideshow is a collaborative and dynamic display of performers, visual artists and creative practitioners exploring ideas of group dynamic, and the spectacle.
The event will be held on the 8th of November at H-Block Kelvin Grove QUT, and be in the format of a mini carnival existing as a collaborative work in the Vis Arts graduate group show.
The idea is that the Hartcoat Sideshow will be a physical incarnation of Hartcoat’s key ideals to create opportunities for emerging artists to exhibit their work.

We are calling for proposals for games, contraptions, events or performances that follow the loose theme of “the carnival”.  We will basically have the run of an entire car-park (about 20m squared) with a big tent in the centre.  Works can be held within or around the tent, but are asked to be considerate of the audience attending the show.

Artists can run their own ideas/projects, or contribute to elements in existing ideas listed below:

    • A carnival-type dart game, where the audience wins a distorted stuffed toy. (For this project we need people to construct the distorted toys)
    • Roving performers doing tricks or mini acts

If your interested in adding to the Hartcoat Sideshow, please send us an email at hartcoat@gmail.com
